History
Petra is a city of sandstone known to its original people as “Raqmu.” It is also sometimes referred to as “the lost city.” The tourist attraction that is Petra is only about 15% of the city the Nabeteans built and inhabited. The remaining 85% of the city is probably still underground - untouched and yet to be found.
