Colosseum
Rome, Italy
History
The Colosseum was commissioned around A.D. 70-72 by Emperor Vespasian. The amphitheater regularly housed 100 days of games, including gladiatorial combats and wild animal fights. It began to fall apart from neglect after four centuries. Some its materials were then used to build other structures, but the structure remains standing.
